Dubai Airport - Inter Terminal Baggage Transfer Service

Emirates has introduced Inter Terminal Baggage Transfer Service in Dubai to provide customer a better experience when transferring on separate tickets and on Other Airlines (OAL) with whom Emirates does not have an interline agreement with.

EK to EK transfer Customers who have booked on Emirates sectors only can be through checked in from origin destination all the way to the final destination. All Emirates airlines flights arrive and depart from Dubai International Airport Terminal 3.

EK to OAL Transfer:

In Dubai Airport, other airlines operate from Terminal J. and 2. Customers who are booked on EK and onwards to another airline will arrive in Terminal 3 and then depart from different terminal.

The acceptance of customers depends on the type of ticket.

1. Through Journey:

Customer's whose entire journey is booked on a single ticket (EK is the delivering carrier and the receiving carrier is OAL) can be through checked and the baggage through tagged. The connection in Dubai must be within 24 hours. Boarding pass will be issued from point of origin and customer can proceed directly to the OAL terminal.

2. Separate Tickets:

Customers holding separate tickets have the option to avail the Emirates Inter Terminal Baggage Transfer Service when transferring in Dubai.

Customers who are not eligible to enter Dubai or do not want to clear customs, immigration and re-check in with the OAL can request EK to arrange the transfer of bags to OAL.

  • Upon arrival at Terminal 3, must proceed to the nearest EK Connections area to avail the airside inter-terminal bus service. The bus would drop off the customer to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 Connections area.

  • Customer needs to approach the OAL Connections desk to check-in for the respective flight and request for the Inter Terminal Baggage Transfer Service.

  • Customer must pay for the service for the EMD to be issued along with the boarding pass.

  • After payment, customer will be guided to the departure gate.

Customers who do not want to avail the Inter Terminal Baggage Transfer Service must meet UAE entry requirements and proceed to Dubai arrivals, clear immigration, collect the checked baggage from the arrival baggage carousel and make their own arrangements to proceed to the OAL check-in desk at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.

OAL to EK Transfer (Interline Transfer):

These bookings involve OAL as the delivering carrier and customers will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and have an onwards flight with EK at Terminal 3. The customer may be through checked in to the final destination depending on whether the customer holds a single ticket and if the airlines involved have an interline agreement.

1. Through Journey(Single Ticket):

When entire journey is on single ticket (first sector is on an OAL) and customer has been through checked-in on EK, customers do not need to collect their bags when transferring in Dubai. The customer may proceed directly from Ti/T2 via the inter-terminal bus to Terminal 3, from where EK operates and board the flight.

2. Separate Tickets:

When customers are holding separate tickets and airlines involved do not have interline agreement then customer will only be checked in and bags tagged only until Dubai.

Customers have the option to avail the Emirates Inter Terminal Baggage Transfer Service.

Customers who are not eligible to enter Dubai or do not want to clear customs, immigration and re-check in with EK can request EK to arrange the transfer of bags from Ti/T2 to T3.

  • Upon arrival at Terminal 1/2, the customer should proceed to the nearest OAL Connections area to avail the airside inter-terminal bus service to Terminal 3. The bus would drop off the customer at the Terminal 3 Connections area.

  • Customer must approach the EK Connections desk to check-in for the respective flight and request for the Inter Terminal Baggage Transfer Service.

  • Customer must pay for the service for the EMD to be issued along with the boarding pass.

  • After payment, customer will be guided to the departure gate.

Customers not availing the Emirates Inter Terminal Baggage Transfer Service, can proceed to Dubai Arrivals, clear immigration, collect the checked baggage from the arrival baggage carousel and make their own arrangements to proceed to Terminal 3 and check-in with EK.
