Abdullah Hafeez, the PIA spokesperson (Pakistan International Airlines), said that the airline is planning to operate a couple of flights from Islamabad to Swat (Saidu Sharif Airport) each week. It means that you now will be able to take your affordable flights with PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) to Swat. The spokesperson also said that not only will it facilitate the people, but it will also promote tourism in the whole country.

The spokesperson added that other than the flights from Islamabad to Swat, the PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) is also planning to operate flights from Lahore to Gilgit and Lahore to Skardu. Undoubtedly it is one of the biggest news for the people from Lahore in a long while because now they will not have to take the road trip from Lahore to Islamabad to take their flights to Gilgit Skardu.

As far as the flights from Lahore to Gilgit and Skardu are concerned, then they will start somewhere in the next month (April 2021).
The officials have also reported that the PIA has already informed the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) about this plan. It will be carried out as soon as the Saidu Sharif Airport goes operational. Moreover, the list of flights will also be shared after that for the flights for Swat.
The CAA officials have reported that some construction and maintenance work is yet to be carried out in Swat airport, and as soon as that is finished, the airport will start its regular operation. The officials have also said that they are also working on the other closed airports as only 27 are operational currently out of 44. The 11 of them are closed, and six of them have been scaled down.
